Elena Williams is a Senior Consultant with a career dedicated to facilitating global mobility and education. Elena is also a member of the Australia-Indonesia Institute Board for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
Elena is passionate about building intercultural literacy, leading diverse and multicultural teams. An experienced trainer and presenter, Elena’s most recent speaking engagements include: The Sydney Southeast Asia Centre, The Australia-Indonesia Business Council, Universities Australia, The International Education Association of Australia, and the WA Government. At Beasley Intercultural, Elena facilitates cultural capability programs and contributes to our ongoing research, design, and development of program materials.
With over ten years of experience of living and working in Indonesia, Elena’s professional experience includes holding positions at: the Asia Society Australia; UN Women, the Australian Consortium of In-Country Indonesian Studies. She has contributed her expertise to the National Australia Indonesia Language Awards (NAILA), Indo-Pacific Student Mobility Youth Dialogue, and AFS Intercultural Programs Australia.
Elena is fluent in Bahasa Indonesia and is currently undertaking a Doctor of Philosophy in International, Political and Strategic Studies (Southeast Asian Studies) examining the impact of study abroad programs on the Australia-Indonesia relationship. Her other qualifications include Master of Applied Anthropology and Participatory Development (Gender Studies), Bachelor of Arts Honours IV in Indonesian and Malay Studies and Bachelor of Arts Communications & Bachelor of Arts International Studies. Elena has been awarded a competitive scholarship from the Victorian Government Office of Women and The Australian Institute for Company Directors to participate in the AICD’s ‘Board Leadership for Women’ program as an emerging non-profit board leader.
